Future Exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts
The Boston Museum of Fine Arts is always a great place to good if you want to see a variety of first class artwork, with regular exhibitions playing host to a diverse range of pieces. Here are just a few of the highlights which art-lovers can look forward to in the near future.
From March through to June, visitors can expect to see a range of paintings from world-renowned artists, Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterlo. Much of the artwork which will be on display has previously been exhibited in Holland, and is not beginning a tour of the United States. Expect to see everything from stunning landscapes to still life portraits – a must-see for fans of this traditional style of art.
On the other hand, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts also has plenty to satisfy those with slightly more modern tastes this March. The Allure of Japan offers the opportunity to encounter objects and images stemming from Japanese culture, when a fascination for art from this part of the world took over the United States during early 1900. The traditionally Japanese styles and techniques on display are sure to be a millions miles from the images which we might encounter in modern magazines and sites such as Party Poker, yet their unique aesthetic is almost certainly something which has influenced artistic design today. This exhibition promises to offer a rare look at the art which first exposed the US to this style of creativity.
April’s ‘Community Arts Initiative’ is titled ‘Fresh Eyes’ and runs through to September. The project will see artist Hannah Burr guide eight school-age students in creating their own responses to works from the Museum’s encyclopaedic collection. The result will encourage others to look at the works in ways which they might to have necessarily done otherwise.
